Slumdog Millionaire

Slumdog Millionaire, so many around the world have the question why this movie was awarded 8 Oscars. This post I just wanted to add my reviews about the movie, this movie which basically portrays the people who leave in slum and their life both good and bad things, are covered in this movie. Apart from this, a guy from Mumbai slum wins the title in a TV show “Who wants to be a Millionaire”, and finds his girl friend by showing his identity. 

1. The original story is been found in the novel “Q & A”, written by the Vikas Swarup a Indian Foreign service man. Latter the director Danny Boyle had made the screenplay for the movie, which was done so excellently, no wonder the movie had got 8 Oscars. 

2. The background sound was extra-ordinary. You should listen to those only in good theaters. 

3. The Music composed for songs by A R Rehman was ultimate thing to the movie. 

4. The small 3 wonders who acted in the movie had created an exceptional performance on the screen and they really take most of the sense. 

5. Irrfan Khan acting was so wonderful. He comes as a police officer and thrills the opening scenes. 

6. The Jamal who tells answer to the questions by sequencing with the real life situation was nicely handled in the movie. 

7. Freida Pinto was the right pick as Latika, the heroine of the movie. Her character was humble and the sufferings faced are all too nicely visualized. 

8. The kids who stole the food when the train was moving was so good, I like those scenes very much. 

Watch the movie in the theaters and treat yourself with the bests in that.

A R Rehman, Slumdog Millionaire

The Indian music legend A.R. Rehman bagged 2 Oscar awards on 81st academy award presentation. This was a great moment for me, morning immediately after I woke up; I switched on star movies and was waiting to see this 81st academy presentation. I always used to watch this every year, but this year I was more excited to see because AR Rehman was nominated for Slumdog Millionaire. It was long time ago Satyajit Ray, who was given this award for honoring him and not for any performance. But this time I was really curious to see because first time Indians are nominated for the performance for original song, original score and for sound mixing. The program was initially started by Will smith who was announcing the names of the nominees and followed different others. And my long awaited awards started coming for Slumdog Millionaire. 

The first Indian who was announced was Resul Pookutty along with Ian Tapp, Richard Pryke for their achievement in Sound Mixing. I was very curious if he get the award, after announcing the nominees, there was a small gap and then they announced the Award goes to “Slumdog Millionaire”. I was so happy to hear this. Later they have announced the names for the nominees for Original score, I was very sure that AR would make through and as I hoped AR Rehman got the award. Later for original song, again his name was nominated.  This time too, again he was selected for his performance for the Jai ho song.  Now, I think every Indian dreams would have come true. This was the happiest moment for any Indian and I wish all the great success for ARR to go beyond this and reach the skies.  

All the credit goes for the producer and others who choose AR Rehman and giving him an opportunity in this movie.  As Rehman said, let all the credit and heights go to the God.

Bangalore to Chennai Highway

I usually prefer to travel from Chennai to Bangalore using the NH7 Highway. The road is so beautiful, that your car or bike can go at a speed of even 150Kms/hour. I had so many driving experiences on this road for the past 4 years. My first visit is a new Tata Indica car of my aunt. When we started from Bangalore, crossed the hectic traffic of Hosur road and after crossing Electronic City, we could able to increase the speed of the car. But it was sometime back in 2005, the road till Vellore it was good but after that lot of construction work and it was pure difficulty for us to drive. Later I got my new Pulsor Bajaj bike, so I wanted to freak in this road with my new bike. So I started one great morning around 5 AM. Found a petrol pump and filled the tank with 13 liters of petrol. My accelerator was keep increasing to a speed of 100 Kms / hour. Ah! What a great experience it was, both the sides of the road has a great scenic view. I could not believe that the bike goes so smooth in 100 to 120 in the Highway. Such a great experience for me, on the road till Krishnagiri, it will like a ride in the mountain. Lots of ups and downs in the road, the bike may little go down in the speed when it climbs up. But after you take a left to Burgur from krishnagiri, it is a complete straight drive to Chennai. You may little feel discomfort if you are going along, so can take rest and have some tea or coffee. If you want to have some good food, in Vellore you have it in Hotel Saravana bhavan. You can fuel yourself in this restaurant. From Vellore it is only 150 Kms to Chennai. You can then hip hop the speed of the bike and reach Chennai within one hour and thirty mints. That was a cool experience for me and my friend. We used to take the charge of the vehicle with every 100 Kms so that both of us can enjoy pleasing driving. One advantage is you don’t have to pay the toll if you go y Bike.

Now, I had made my trip in this road with my own car as well.

Village Visit

Last week I had an opportunity to visit a village near Thanjavur (Tanjore). The name of the village is Variyankaval. This is my wife’s grand pa's place. We went from Bangalore to Tanjore by train. From Tanjore we have hired a taxi to reach that place. There is no wonder that Tanjore is rice bowl or rice granary of Tamil Nadu. Everywhere I see the green paddy fields and it has created a pleasant mood in my mind. The roads are not too good as expected since there is no much development in those places. Ah! We have reached the house after a short travel of 2hrs. In that place I had seen very little amount of Houses which are constructed with full covering ceiling. Most of the houses are covered on the top by potsherd tiles, few houses are very old than I expected. We had a plan to stay that night in the House. I never thought before that people can live in these kinds of titled houses. 

Later the next day I wanted to start little early, but when I came out in the morning I saw cotton and silk weaving are done in hand. Surprised to see this after a long time, but still people in India prepares handloom saree and cloths. The initial process is to make the design, color and the border of the saree. Next, to move ahead with the process of separating the thread which are entangled each other. Next decision is to make how many saree in one go, in that way it is been stretched for a long distance and they use different technology to separate the cotton thread which is entangled each other. This process will create parallel threads in a long run and they will fold. Once the fold is done they use a handmade machine with lot of connections to it. This is used to intersect the parallel thread with the other thread to make the complete over view of the cloth. Please see the below images which will help you to understand better.

The most awaited Bangalore Aero show 2009 was already started on 11-Feb 2009. The show was inaugurated by the Minster of defence AK Antony, Government of India.
